2011 Carlsbad Invite

Results From The 2011 Carlsbad Invite —Senior Ty Carroll gave the Clovis High boys cross country team a strong foursome on Saturday.  Carroll joined the team’s three lead runners on Saturday with a top-10 finish, helping the Wildcats win the team title in the Ron Singleton Invitational. Clovis had 44 team points to beat out District 4-5A rival Hobbs, which finished second at 68.

The Clovis girls came in second with 77 points, trailing Odessa High with 66.

Senior Brandon Gutierrez led the Clovis boys for the firs time, finishing third overall in 17 minutes, 19 seconds. Junior Chase Beausoleil was third at 17:28 and senior Kevin Dalls sixth at 17:35.

“It was a good day for the boys,” CHS coach Mike Hankins said. “We started out kind of in the back of the pack, but they really ran a smart race.

“Probably the best performance for us today was Ty Carroll getting ninth. Our top four runners really ran well.”

Seniors Gladys Miranda and Maddie McNaughton led the Lady Wildcats, finishing third in 20:11 and sixth in 20:49, respectively.

“I can’t say enough about how Gladys Mirands is running,” Hankins said. “She ran two minutes faster on this course today than she did last year.

“Her and Maddie have been leading the team every week.”

Clovis returns to action on Saturday in the Lubbock Invitational.
