Senior Brandon Gutierrez finished third, senior Kevin Dallas was fourth and senior Ty Carroll sixth for the Wildcats, who totaled 24 points to 52 for Plainview. All seven Cats runners finished in the top 15.
Meantime, the Clovis girls finished second with 46 points, trailing Spearman with 38.
“We ran well,” CHS coach Mike Hankins said. “Chase Beausoleil did a great job. He went out and attacked the course.
“The kids are improving every week.”
Seniors Maddie McNaughton (12:14.76) and Gladys Miranda (12:27.23) finished 3-4 for the Lady Wildcats in girls competition. Five Lady Cats finished in the top 15.
“Maddie and Gladys ran well today; it was a good day for them,” Hankins said.
The Lady Cats are still without senior Brittany Collins, who is nursing a knee injury.
“We’re probably 2-3 weeks from running her right now,” Hankins said.
