9/11/10 Albuquerque, NM -Cats third, Lady Cats seventh at Highland — Senior Colton Dent placed 13th in 16 minutes, 59 seconds and senior Kenan Bussen was 14th in 17:04 over five kilometers on Friday, leading the Clovis High boys cross country team to a third-place finish in the Highland Invitational at Albuquerque.
Albuquerque Academy swept both team titles, finishing with 36 points on the boys’ side to 49 for La Cueva and 121 for the Wildcats. The Academy girls had 63 team points, while Clovis was seventh with 163. The meet consisted of all Albuquerque schools except for CHS.
“This was actually a great meet for us,” CHS coach Mike Hankins said. “We ran real well. It puts it in perspective where we’re at.”
Junior Mddie McNaughton led the Lady Wildcats, running a time of 20:50 for 17th place. Junior Amy Miranda was 19th in 21:10.
Clovis teams return to action next Saturday in the Ron Singleton Invitational at Carlsbad.
RESULTS
Our Wildcats did very well at the Highland Meet. The boys team took third overall and the Lady Cats placed seventh.
